June 26-- Just 1 day after taking 3 of 4 from the Cardinals, the Mets put on a very poor performance against the Yankees. A terrible defensive 2nd inning led to 4 Yankees runs in what would be a 9-1 win for them. The Mets looked completely uninspired all night scoring only on a Gary Sheffield solo home run. Mike Peflrey looked as if he didn't have it again while the Mets could not solve CC Sabathia all night.
Things are really getting bad for the Mets as they are hanging on by a thread because the Phillies continue to lose at the same time. I this was not the case, the Mets might be 10 games back in the standings with a lot o work ahead of them (not as if that is not true none the less).
On the positive side for the Mets, the team is ravaged with injuries and things can only get better once Carlos Delgado, Jose Reyes, Carlos Beltran and John Maine come back from their injuries (Oliver Perez is a toss up once he comes back). The Mets need to keep above water for the time being until they get healthy again. Hopefully they will be able to pick up seam with a full deck after the All-Star break.
